Whizzkidz are calling on the government to Fast Forward reform of NHS wheelchair provision for disabled children and young people. This will ensure that all disabled children in the UK can access the right mobility equipment and ongoing support that they need without undue delay. http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/fastforward/ An estimated 70,000 children are waiting to receive the mobility equipment that is right for them. This wait often takes months, even years. In the meantime, children are missing out on their childhood as they’re unable to fully participate in family and school life, and keep up with their friends. http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/fastforward/ Add Comment Fran's Pick of the Day: GB Sports Coaches 05/25/2011
GB SPORTS COACHES show me great support on a daily basis, for which I am very grateful. It is a unique private organisation that aims to work with partners in the Sports & Leisure sector to enable them to reduce their costs and to assist with effective management of their workforce, training, development & recruitment plan. http://www.gbsportscoaches.co.uk/ Another clear objective is to benefit the individual by providing a fun, informative and vibrant networking facility where individuals can showcase what they are about through their personal profiles, for free! We also aim to assist Sports Clubs of all sizes to share in best practice and to share their events with others across the UK sector. From time to time we'll also introduce beneficial information and opportunities offered by organisations in other parts of the world such as the US, Australia and locations offering coaching opportunities http://www.gbsportscoaches.co.uk/ I just happened to stumble across this guy and project this evening and was pretty impressed with the effort needed to do this. http://iswimwithmarcos.com/project/ Marcos Díaz swims uniting the continents to raise the voices of the world and show that we are not that far apart. His purpose is to bring global attention to the Millennium Development Goals and invite people to act and demand that our leaders keep their promises by 2015. http://iswimwithmarcos.com/project/ Fran's Pick of the Day: Charly's Gems 05/19/2011
Charly is my next door neighbour, and has a great talent when it comes to making jewellery and designing bits and bobs. Her stuff is unique and inexpensive - and more people should have a look and treat themselves or others! :) http://www.charlysgems.com/index.htm Charlys Gems was created by Charly after graduating from De Montfort University in 2009, with a Design Crafts BA (Hons) specialising in enamelling. Before going to University Charly attended evening classes in beaded jewellery and felt, which inspired her to follow her passion. At university the beginnings of the collection 'Brought Back Again' was created. Charlys passion and interest in Vintage and charity shop finds was to become the start of a fun and colourful collection of work. Drawings and photographs Charly has taken are turned into designs to create silver and enamelled jewellery and craft items. Charly still goes back to her roots and continues to design and create jewellery from beads and crafted items made out of felt. http://www.charlysgems.com/index.htm Fran's Pick of the Day: Disability Horizons 05/18/2011
The new online magazine Disability Horizons is now in its second month of publication. This is well worth a wonder round and frequent re-visits. I hope the boys, Martyn and Srin, keep up the good work and everything goes from strength to strength! www.disabilityhorizons.com/ The unique project "aims to promote a positive and inclusive image of disability to the wider world to challenge negative stereotypes, misconceptions and injustice; and ultimately help individuals with disabilities to make the most of their lives" The online magazine attempts to do this by "sharing a variety of articles through this site that covers variety of topics ranging from the political to the practical, and articles about everyday individuals and challenges they face to those whose decisions have an effect the lives of many disabled people in the UK and beyond. In addition to the topical and serious, we will also be sharing articles from our contributors on the lighter side of life." www.disabilityhorizons.com/ | Fran's Pick of the Day
I am starting to get a lot of
support from various people, organisations, and projects so links to this site
are flying around all over the place.
So I thought, whilst travelling round the interweb this afternoon, that
it might be fun to tell you my favourite website of the day. I say website, but it might be an
article, mini-game, video or photo on the web. It will, eventually, no doubt, give you an opportunity to
see into the odd mind of Fran!! ;) ArchivesCategories |
