Off to race in Sheffield... 06/04/2011
I haven't updated my blog in some time, and, for this, I can only apologise. As some of you will know, I had some rather stinging news just weeks after last years amazing World Championships. The programme for the London 2012 Paralympic games was announced, within which my 50m backstroke was not included. So, having just become World Champion in this particular event, I was, its safe to say, knocked for six. Therefore, with this, along with a string of illnesses, I decided to take some time out to re-evaluate things. I do still have two races available for me to compete in at the London 2012 games. I also have a record of medalling in all bar one of the international races I’ve been in over the last ten years! Therefore, since I am not one for giving up, I will still be going for gold in London. Despite losing my number one event. This weekend I am competing for the first time since the worlds. I am heading to Sheffield for the British International Disability Swimming Championships. This is also the second trials for the European champs which are to be held in Berlin in July. I did not race at the first trials, in April, due to ill health. So, this is my first and only chance at qualifying – no pressure huh!! Anyway, I must head off to prepare for the busy weekend ahead. I shall return next week to discuss how the weekend went, as well as other exciting things that have been going on lately. In the meantime, however, Chris will be doing audio updates of the weekend’s events – these can be found on the Latest News section of the site. Take care!! Add Comment |
